If you aren't familiar with them, it's a large church in Temecula that does some pretty awesome work in the community. I've personally never seen a church give back SO much. Solely because the size of the staff. But honestly, I'm having a GREAT time and meeting MANY cool people. We got sandy, we got wet, there was tears (fake ones, but still...), and there was laughs, but above all we had a great time. We couldn't have asked for a prettier more perfect day to shoot. So, a shout out to the big guy up stairs for providing that. <br /><br />It's been a busy few weeks, and I'll have much more to post over the next few days. In fact, typically I will do whatever it takes not to "hang out" with artificial light (shoot my lowest aperture, 1600+ ISO, and down to 1/50th or slower). Not that there's anything wrong with it, I am just partial to natural/available light. Nevertheless, at times lighting isn't an option, especially with most product shoots. In saying all that, here are a few shots from a recent product shoot I did for Celebration Cellars. "Overwhelming" is the first word that comes to mind. "Love at first bite" would be the second. I could write on and on about that place, but I will not. What I am going to do is write a list of the things I did there (and ate there) that I would tell anyone and everyone to do, whether it be your first time or your one hundredth. So, here it is:<br /><br />Halal - a gyro cart on 53rd and 6th. Be prepared to wait in line for the best gyro you've ever had.<br /><br />"Top of the Rock" - $20 and you only spend 30-45 minutes up there, but it's SO worth it (View below)<br /><br />230 5th Ave - That's actually the name of the bar as well as the address. Roof top and the only thing obstructing the view is the Empire State Building. And if you get tired of the beautiful view and fresh air, you can always head down one floor to the amazing lounge, sounded by nothing but glass windows.<br /><br />Gray's Papaya - Spend $4 and get two of the most delicious hot dogs and your drink of choice. Of course, they is over 20 fresh and homemade juices to choose from. I had "Pina Colada" :)<br /><br />TKTS - If you enjoy the theatre (even if you don't) you'll most likely see at least one Broadway show while in NYC. Broadway shows can be expensive, but don't let that stand in your way. Head to a TKTS booth and find out what DAY OF deals they have going. Bri and I saw "9 to 5" for 60% of the price. Oh, and keep in mind, "bad seats" (last row) on Broadway, is like "pretty good seats" in California. <br /><br />Dallas BBQ - Don't laugh. NO, seriously, stop laughing. I'm not here to recommend great (or even good) service, nor delicious food. What I am going to say is, if you find yourself in NYC make a point to head to one of Dallas BBQ's many locations. Get one of their "Texas Size" - "Speciality Drinks". The best $7 you will ever spend.<br /><br />Century 21 - If you are looking to shop in New York make sure this is one of your stops. All designer clothes (not "middle of the road" designers, like Diesel, Armani, 7 for All Mankind, Ben Sherman, and list goes on and on) for anywhere from 40% - 80% off. Be prepared to deal with some crowds.<br /><br />Pazza Notte - Bri's favorite place in New York prior to the trip, so I could go try the amazing gnocchi (featured below) they have. It is a gorgonzola gnocchi and it is delightful. It was a blast! We even discovered awesome little secrets. For example, if you go into LA City Hall (you'll have to go through security, but no biggie) take the "express" elevator to the 22nd floor. Get out, head right and you'll immediately see another elevator, take it to the 26th floor. Once on the 26th floor, take the beautiful stairway to the 27th floor, on which is located an amazing banquet room. Exit to the balcony, and there you have it... 360 degree view of Los Angeles from 27 stories up. <br /><br />I can't wait to go back again soon... and hopefully on a little more clear of a day. This past weekend <a href="http://www.joelbeukelman.blogspot.com",TARGET="_blank">Joel</a> and I journeyed up to Monterey to shoot a wedding. Driving so much in such a short amount of time was rough, but all worth it in the end (side note: if you're getting tired while driving, set your ipod to "shuffle" and then play all... 'guess that song' got joel and I safely there and back). I don't really have anything more to say, except Central Coast is amazing and I can't wait to go back next weekend. They've traveled with me, they've worked side by side with me, and they've been up in the wee hours of the morning writing/recording music with me. They've been tossed around, beat up, pushed to their decibel limits, and now sold off. These friends I speak of are my Marshall headstock, and my Mesa 4x12 cab. They've been doing nothing but taking up storage space for 9 months, and I have to give a big thanks to <a href="http://www.whatisthreshold.com", TARGET="_blank">Threshold</a> for taking care of my friends for such a long period of time :) In no way am I quitting the guitar but my "rockstar" days are over. I don't plan on playing any shows or big venues so to keep this equipment, just so it can sit around is silly. We got in town a little early and decided to stop by the Walt Disney Concert Hall, because A. I'd never been there, and B. Bri loves architecture and has always loved that place. The garden area was open so we had the opportunity to pretty much roam freely throughout the entire exterior of the facility. It is an extremely captivating structure and a must see for anyone who has any appreciation for art, architecture, or beauty [so pretty much everyone ;) ]. So a group of us went to celebrate for "thirsty thursdays" at the Storm Stadium in Elsinore. The best part about this is that Brent & Amy (his wife) live literally .5 miles from the stadium. So we journeyed across the field (pictured below) and to the stadium. The place is packed with amazing art. If you haven't seen a Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Matisse, or Braque in person, don't even finsih reading this blog... grab your keys and drive straight there! :) but seriously, it's a great time and once your done staring at paintings you're in the middle of one of my favorite California cities. With an abundance of awesome shops, delicious food, and frozen yogurt every other store you can't go wrong. First off, their food is "bomb sandwich", as Bri would say, and the restaurant has a great nostalgic vibe. I was rewarded quite handsomely with a BBQ bacon cheese burger and fries, for my efforts. It was perfect. i couldn't have had a better time! Everything from the adventure up, to the journey down was great. MANY pics will be posted this week. I was so excited to see them and it was really the perfect end to a great trip. <br /><br />Also, I have another bit of news.... I got a 5d!! !!! !! !!!! Brizzle surprised the friggin crap out of me and got me one for my birthday and gave it to me the night before we left. I was in disbelief to say the least, and cannot be thankful enough. First Brizzle and I went to the Orange County Performing Arts Center to watch one of my favorite broadway shows, Avenue Q. I highly recommend it, but it's not for the light at heart. Words like crass and shocking as well as "LMFAO" and "I just pee'd myself" are used to describe this adult play on Sesame Street. On Sunday, <a href="http://www.tenelevenphoto.com", TARGET="_blank">10.11.</a> had an engagement shoot with kyle &amp; presilla in the B-E-A-U-tiful city of La Jolla, California. Honestly, they were so much fun and SO easy to shoot (as seen in pictures below). Apparently, when they appoint a new queen the old one gets kicked out and takes a number of worker bees with her. They swarm and form a 'protective hive', until they determine where abouts they will be relocating. I recommended La Jolla to the queen bee because it's the most temperate place around AND it's gorgeous this time of year. I would consider the MINI Cooper S one of my 'dream' cars, and now I own it! :) I feel like i'm 16 again. You know when you want to drive anywhere and everywhere just 'cause.... that's me. To add to the story, <a href="http://www.joelbeukelman.blogspot.com" TARGET="_blank">Joel,</a> happened to get the same car (different color) this past Monday! He's also always loved the Cooper and recently had a blow out with his Scion xB that caused a lot of damage and he decided it was time to move on. The result was an incredibly lame photo shoot last night that had me questioning my 'coolness' :) Anywho, the photos you are about to see are lame and considerably 'gay'. Using hoehne as inspiration I have attempted applying these fundlemental ideas and reproducing them with my own style and flare. This is what i've come up with. Once the car hunt concluded, Bri and I took advantage of being so close to the beach and headed to Salt Creek (Laguna). We hung out, took some pics, visited a "local" coffee shop (starbucks), and had a fun drive back over the Ortega Highway in my new ride. I sent my Mustang to the glue farm and purchased one of my favorite cars ever... a MINI Cooper S! I love it! It was much needed to say the least. At last I reached the end... and I was in love. This writer completely captivated me. I clicked on the reviewers profile and began to read more and more reviews that were absolutely amazing. I felt compelled to share this enlightened and unique story teller with all of you. P L E A S E go read "'The Secret' saved my life". It's more than worth it. Which is why these are going up after the fact. But anyway, in addition to NYE and NYD we managed to go to the Tournament of Roses post-parade (see below) AND hit up the San Diego Zoo the next day. I haven't been to the Zoo since I was a kid and I've never been to the San Diego Zoo, so it was a great experience. In fact, I got a season pass (honestly even if I hated the zoo it was literally less than $10 more to get the season pass over the single day admission). The theme this year was 'Ugly Holiday Sweaters'. Food was fantastic, it included pumpkin raviolis with a gorgonzola cream sauce, spinach puff ball things, A-MAY-ZING cheese dip for crackers, tomato and meatball soup, caprese salad, ginger bread men, oreo and chocolate balls and more that I'm sure I'm forgetting. There were definitely some ugly sweaters there as well. I know right, but wait it gets better... sandisk has a deal when you buy 3 4gb cf cards they give you a $60 prepaid visa. so yes, free! $6.75 at the end of the day is what i 'lost' for 12 mofoin' gigs!
